Ancient Volcano in Yogyakarta

Mount Nglanggeran is an ancient volcano about 60 million yearsold located in the region Baturagung, the northern part of Gunung Kidul Regency at an altitude of about 200-700 masl.

Located in the village Nglanggeran Patuk District, these attractions can be reached about 15 minutes or about 22 milesfrom city Wonosari.
This region is a region with litologinya reputedly composed by oldvolcanic materials and the landscape has a beauty that is very unique geology and high scientific value. Based on the results ofnumerous studies and references, Nglanggeran mountain is an ancient volcano, the existence long before the formation of MountMerapi in Sleman district.
